JOHN ASHFIELD'S PEARL TANGERINE 650/12 CONVERSION
John Ashfield, a popular and youthfully-enthusiastic Bay Area guitarist (The Bobbleheads), asked Studio California if we could convert a 650 to a 12-string guitar, and fit an ebony fretboard to the finished instrument. We happily complied, using our special method of converting that leaves both headstock and neck without any joints that would compromise the strength required to resist the 300-plus pounds of tension that 12 strings typically exert on neck and headstock. He requested a "Dreamsicle Orange" paint job, and we kicked it up a notch by doing the color in a Base Coat Orange/Pearl Coat Gold, protected by our premium clear coat, hand-buffed to a mirror gloss. John gigs this guitar regularly.
