TOM PETERSSON'S (CHEAP TRICK) 730/12 WITH COMPOSITE NECK AND "FISHTAIL" HEADSTOCK

This 730S/12 with special bound "Fishtail" headstock was special-ordered by Bay Area musical virtuoso, Bob Spector (The Spectones), a repeat Studio California client and good friend. Bob wanted a neck that replicated the feel and playability of a mid-1960s Rickenbacker electric 12-string, and to accomplish this feat, it became necessary to reinforce the neck with layers of composite and epoxy, hence the Copperglo painted finish on the back. This Shiloh model also features chrome Schaller mini tuners in place of our standard gold units, an Amber Fireglo finish on the top, and Shaded Indian Rosewood back and sides. A trademark Studio California "Teardrop" pick guard graces the top, hugging the sound hole, and full-width crushed mother-of-pearl fret markers and LR Baggs "anthem" dual-element pickup system were fitted.

After Bob got a few years' playing time on the Shiloh, he put it up for sale, and it was purchased by Tom Petersson of Cheap Trick. Tom sent a nice note expressing his appreciation for the Shiloh, and thanking me for the build.
