Months later, the guitar was finished and reassembled. You can see in this detail, the amber nitro finish on the neck and the custom-mixed Cloverfield Green nitro body wings. Rather than re-do the back in gray mastic and crude horse hair, I made a body guard from .060" styrene and covered it with pearl gray flocking. This is an elegant solution to the slipping issue.
Still, nearly all of these early Combos had standard strap pegs retrofitted, and this one was no exception. So, the sax strap plate is merely a curiosity now, though it does display the proud serial number!
